“hhc Initiative 2024” was held at ˶ Headquarters (Tokyo, Japan) in a hybrid format both in person and online on December 11, 2024.
Approximately 380 people participated in the event, including Dr. Akihiro Okumura, Professor Emeritus, Keio University, our CEO, COO, outside directors, directors, corporate officers, senior managers from each country, award recipients, and hhc managers. The hhc Initiative is an annual event that recognizes outstanding achievements among the innovative activities carried out by our employees from the patients’ perspective, based on ˶'s corporate concept, human health care (hhc).
For this year’s hhc Initiative, 522 “hhc Driven ˶ activities” and 52 "˶ ˶ Papers” were submitted from ˶ employees around the world. All of them were based on themes related to “socialization” which means spending time together with patients and the people in the daily living domain.
After a screening process, 10 projects were awarded in total, including activities implemented in the United States, Japan, and China to establish diagnosis and treatment pathways for Alzheimer's disease, as well as the development of a dementia diagnosis and financial support program in Thailand, the development of a risk reduction plan for the appropriate use of insomnia medications in Malaysia, the development of universal design medication packaging in Japan in collaboration with pediatric patients and their families, and an initiative toward side effect management by a multi-disciplinary team based on patients' medication records in Japan.
˶ employees around the world spend 1% of their working hours with patients (socialization) to understand the emotions of patients and create value for patients (hhc activities). These activities let us deeply understand patients’ true needs and keep us strongly motivated, thus becoming the source of our innovation.
